DocumentAn optimistic outlook — at least in the short term
Some forecasters are worried that the current economic malaise signals the U.S. economy is following Japan into a long-term deflationary funk. I'm a strong believer that the global economy is making a once in a half-century or so transformation from a world where inflation is the dominant price trend to one of deflation or falling prices. But in the short run I'm also convinced that those forecasters predicting a reasonably healthy economic recovery are right.
